You’d think the station nearest to Winter Wonderland would be something grand, like Paddington or King’s Cross. Nope. It’s Marylebone—the quiet, slightly embarrassed cousin of London’s railway family.
Marylebone is so small and unassuming that three people miss their trains there every day simply because they can’t find the entrance. But that’s its charm. You walk out of the station, and suddenly you’re two minutes from the giant Ferris wheel and a thousand screaming children.
The Walk of Joy (and Dodging Puddles)
Exiting Marylebone, you’ll see Hyde Park straight ahead. It’s like the station apologizes for its size by dropping you right at Wonderland’s doorstep.
The walk is roughly 500 meters, which in normal people time is about six minutes. In Winter Wonderland time, that’s twelve minutes because you’ll stop to buy a questionable bratwurst from a stand that also sells plastic reindeer antlers. Don’t judge me—we’ve all been there.
If it’s raining—and it’s London, so it’s probably raining—the puddles form a competitive obstacle course. By the time you reach the gates, your shoes will be as soggy as your hopes of finding a toilet without a queue.
