Don’t soak for more than 24 hours! At room temp, beans can start to ferment. You want soaking, not a science experiment gone wild.

If your kitchen is hot (like summer-level hot), put the soaking bowl in the fridge. It keeps them safe and happy. Nobody likes a sunburned bean.
You can also add a piece of kombu (a seaweed) to the soaking water. It’s an old trick that adds minerals and supposedly helps with digestibility. Or don’t! The beans will still love you.
