You don’t need a hundred crunches. In fact, crunches can widen your waist if you do them wrong. Instead, think twisting and tilting. Your muffin top is largely about poor posture and weak side muscles.
Try the “suitcase carry” at home: hold a heavy book in one hand and walk around for 30 seconds. Your obliques (the side belly muscles) will scream in surprise. It’s hilarious how such a simple move works.
The Standing Vacuum
Here’s a weird trick: stand up, suck your belly button in and up toward your spine, and hold that pose for 15 seconds. Do this five times a day. This “stomach vacuum” exercise tightens the deep core muscles that hold everything flat. It’s invisible, so you can do it on the bus or while waiting for coffee.
