Look at the stain. Stare it down. Now mix one cup warm water with one drop of dish soap. Seriously. One drop. Not a squirt. We’re not washing dishes.
Dab a clean white cloth into the mix. Never spray directly onto the sofa. That’s rookie behavior. Spray the cloth. Gently blot the stain. Don’t rub. Rubbing spreads the crime scene.
Blot from the edges inward. If the stain laughs at you, use a tiny bit of white vinegar. Water + vinegar = dream team. But test it on a hidden spot first. No one wants a discolored couch patch.
When Water Won’t Touch It
Is the stain greasy? Like pizza grease or a toddler’s handprint? That’s a job for isopropyl alcohol (if your tag says “S” or “WS”). Dab it on a cloth. Blot. Repeat. It dries fast and lifts oil like a boss.
For stubborn ink or wine? Try hairspray. Yes, hairspray from the ’80s. Spray it on the cloth, blot, and watch the stain surrender. You’re basically a chemist now. A cool one.
