The real kicker? Blizzard has tried this before with Season of Mastery – and it was fine, but nobody screamed "wow!" It was like adding a cherry to a stale cupcake. Classic Plus needs to be a whole new cake – with layers. They’d need to listen to the loud, sweaty players who still argue about whether Warriors are “overpowered” (spoiler: they are, and we love it).
I, for one, would pay a full expansion price for a Classic Plus that adds the Dance Studio we were promised in Wrath. You laugh, but that’s the energy. We want silly, serious, hard-core all in one package. Think about it: a new race, the Ogre, with a starting zone full of chaotic, voice-line-heavy quests. Chef’s kiss.
But will Blizzard actually do it? They’re in a corner. Retail WoW is getting very complicated for new players, and Classic Era is a museum piece. Classic Plus is the bridge – a way to bring back lapsed players like your friend Dave, who now has a kid and just wants to grind one reputation without the FOMO. If Blizzard plays it right, they might just reinvigorate the whole MMO genre. If they botch it? Well, we’ll just reinstall a private server and call it a day.
So, keep your eyes peeled. Maybe, just maybe, by 2026, you’ll be camping a new world boss in a freshly-tuned Azshara zone. But if they add a cash shop mount before the first raid, I’m personally mailing a physical letter of complaint written in Dwarvish runes. You in?
