Russia has the largest nuclear arsenal on the planet—over 5,500 warheads. That’s enough to turn the world into a bug-zapper barbecue. If strength is measured by who can end civilization fastest, Russia wins the sprint.
But conventional forces? Oh boy. Their navy hasn’t launched a new major warship in years. Their only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, is famous for breaking down and catching fire. It’s basically a floating crisis.
Russian tanks look scary on paper, but many are 40 years old. It’s like showing up to a gunfight with a musket and a good attitude. They have the nukes, but their ability to win a conventional war is laughable.
The Underdogs: India and the UK
India has the third-largest active military and a lot of fancy new jets. But they also have to secure a border with Pakistan while dealing with monsoon season. Their strategy is basically “fight everyone, everywhere, all at once.” Respect.
The United Kingdom has a navy that’s surprisingly lethal. Their Queen Elizabeth-class carriers are top-tier. But they have only about 200 tanks total. That’s fewer than what New York City’s police department could theoretically muster if they raided a few car dealerships.
