Right now, that title belongs to Usain Bolt, even though he retired years ago. His record of 9.58 seconds for the 100-meter dash still feels like a glitch in the Matrix. To put it in everyday terms: that’s faster than your Wi-Fi loading a cat video.
He once outran a car in a promotional stunt—but let’s be real, probably a slow one. Still, imagine doing that while your morning coffee is brewing. He makes blink-and-you-miss-it look like a slow-motion replay.
What about the current guys?
Today, the crown is hotly contested. You’ve got Noah Lyles from the USA, who ran 9.79 seconds at the 2026 World Championships. He’s so fast that if he were your pizza delivery guy, your order would arrive before you hung up the phone.
Then there’s Kishane Thompson from Jamaica, who’s creeping up on Bolt’s record. These guys don’t just run; they vanish. If you blinked during their race, you’d assume the track was empty and go back to scrolling your feed.
