Most of the sets were dismantled or destroyed after filming. The farmhouse in Simi Valley is long gone, replaced by a strip mall. Stage 27 still exists at the Sony Pictures lot (formerly MGM), but it’s been remodeled for modern films. If you visit Culver City, you can walk past the lot and geek out, but you can’t go inside.
However, a few artifacts survive. The famous ruby slippers are in the Smithsonian. The Scarecrow’s costume? In a museum. But the actual locations? They’ve been paved over, repainted, or forgotten. It’s a little sad, but hey—that’s showbiz.
