So where do you actually go? Try your local botanical gardens, if they have a pond. They’re usually classier than a muddy ditch, and the ducks are posher. They might only eat organic, but it’s worth a shot. Another solid bet is the retirement community pond—seriously, the ducks there are well-fed and chill. They’ve seen it all.
Check out your city’s parks and rec website. Look for “duck pond” or “small water feature.” Avoid anything called “lake” unless you want to compete with a million tourists and seagulls that are basically flying thieves. And if all else fails, the fountain at the mall has exactly zero ducks, but at least you can toss a penny and make a wish. I’m kidding. Please don’t feed pennies to anything.
Honestly, the search is half the fun. You get to explore your neighborhood, discover weird little spots you’d normally drive past, and maybe adopt a grumpy duck as your spirit animal. So grab your peas, embrace the awkwardness, and go find your pond. The quacks will find you.
