Here’s a fun little story: I remember my original copy for the Xbox 360. I traded it in, bought it again for the PlayStation 4, and then again for the PC. It’s the only game I’ve ever purchased three times without feeling ripped off. That’s because the release date marks the start of a journey, not the end.
Every new console generation felt incomplete without a version of GTA 5. It’s like when a hit song gets remixed for a new decade—the beat is familiar, but the sound is fresh. The September 17, 2013 date is the birthday of a universe that refused to die, which is more than I can say for my houseplants.

What’s the Big Deal Now?
So why does this date matter to you, right now, while you’re reading this? Because it explains why you can still hop into a lobby and find people causing chaos. It explains why a game that old still gets “new” missions and cars. The release date is the starting line of a marathon that shows no signs of stopping.
Think of it like your favorite coffee shop that opened in 2013. You might have gone there for the first time years later, but the history is still part of the cup. Every time you hear that iconic theme music or see Michael, Trevor, and Franklin on screen, you’re tapping into a decade of memories, inside jokes, and epic heists gone wrong.
