Last year, my neighbor Mark tried to “power through” the flu by drinking only orange juice and three energy drinks. He ended up with a stomach ache so bad he had to call his mom for help. Moral of the story? Variety is your friend. Don’t rely on one magic potion.
Alternate between water, tea, and broth throughout the day. Keep a big water bottle next to your bed. Take tiny sips like you’re watching a precious bird. Every little swallow counts toward helping you feel human again.
When in Doubt, Listen to Your Stomach
Your body is a pretty good guide. If a drink tastes disgusting, don’t force it. If warm tea makes you feel like you can breathe again, drink a whole pot. The goal is comfort and fluids, in that order.
Remember, the flu is like a grumpy houseguest. The faster you hydrate, the faster you can kick it out. So pour yourself something warm, wrap up in that blanket, and give your body the tools it needs to get back to your wonderful, healthy self.
