Stadiums have the sky. That’s infinite space.
Arenas have a roof. 200 feet up is the absolute limit.
That’s why you can’t play baseball in an arena. The ceiling gets in the way.
Unless you’re the Rays in Tropicana Field. That’s a dome. Again, the lines are blurry!
The Absolute Biggest Monsters
Let’s talk about the real champs.
The Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in North Korea. It holds 114,000 people. That’s a stadium.
The biggest arena? The Philippine Arena. It holds 55,000 people.
So a stadium wins on pure capacity. But a 55,000-seat building is still a monster.
And the Philippine Arena is indoors. So it’s like a stadium that ate an arena. Mind-blowing.
