First off, adult wool moths are not the ones eating your clothes. They have no mouths, so they don’t eat anything at all. Their only job is to find a mate and lay eggs.
They look like pale, golden-beige or light gray flakes of dust. Imagine a tiny piece of paper with wings—that’s pretty close.
If you see a moth fluttering around your lamp, it’s probably a common house moth. The wool moth is much more shy.
You’ll often find them hiding in the dark corners of a closet or under a sofa cushion. They are about the size of a fingernail, with a wingspan of barely half an inch.
Fun fact: they fold their wings into a roof-like shape over their bodies when resting. It makes them look like a tiny, shimmering tent.
