The Court House is a Jacobean building that now doubles as a community arts space. Pop in if the door’s open – often there’s a local painter’s exhibition, or a pottery sale. If nothing’s on, just stand in the courtyard and look up at the crooked chimneys. It’s the kind of building that makes you wonder how many lives have passed through these doors? Loaded question. Probably more than you.

If it’s Saturday: the market
Every Saturday morning, the square fills with stalls selling artisan bread, honey, and plants. Go early. The bakery stall runs out of sourdough by 10:30. And whatever you do, do not skip the man selling bronze-dipped ram skulls. Yes, you read that right. He’s called Tim, and he’ll explain the entire process of casting bone into metal while you nervously clutch your loaf of bread. It’s oddly captivating. Buy a skull. It makes a great conversation starter for your shelf at home.
