They’re not really gone, though. That’s the cruel joke. Their voice is still in your ears. Their face is still on your phone. They’re a ghost in the machine, haunting your playlist forever.
So go ahead. Laugh at their old, awkward interview. Roll your eyes at that terrible fashion choice. Remember them as human, not as a statue.
And then, for a second, think about yourself. What would you want people to say? Probably not “he canceled brunch a lot.” So go do something worth remembering. Take that weird class. Write that dumb poem. Call your mom.
Because one day, the news will buzz for you, too. Maybe not on a global scale. But in someone’s heart. And that’s the only fame that actually matters.
