The very first scene drops us into Nelson Mandela House. It’s a gritty, grey tower block in Peckham, London. This is the kingdom of Del Boy and Rodney Trotter.

Their flat is a chaotic mess. A cuckoo clock is stuck on a cuckoo having a nervous breakdown. The whole place screams “aspirational poverty.” It’s gloriously, hilariously shabby.

We meet Grandad, too. He’s not actually their grandad – he’s their uncle. But everyone just calls him Grandad because, well, he’s old and lives there. He’s already perfected the art of doing nothing with maximum attitude.

The Plot, Such as It Is

The episode’s big scheme? Del Boy has bought a consignment of “travellers’ watches.” They cost him a fiver each. He plans to sell them for a massive profit.

Spoiler: they’re complete garbage. They’re cheap, they break, and they probably tell the time only if you ask nicely. The entire episode hinges on Del trying to flog these duds to a hotel barman.

Rodney, meanwhile, is getting married. Sort of. He’s got a fiancée named Anne, who he met on a park bench. She’s the polar opposite of the dodgy world Del inhabits.
