The first nuclear reactor in the US was built way back in 1951 in Illinois. It was called the Experimental Breeder Reactor, and it was a game-changer for the nuclear industry. This tiny reactor paved the way for the massive reactors we see today.
Fast forward to the present, and you'll find that nuclear reactors are a major source of electricity in the US. In fact, they generate about 20% of the country's power. That's a lot of juice, if you ask me!
