Harrogate is a 20-minute drive away. Go there for the famous tea rooms. The old-school ones with doilies and tiny sandwiches. You’ll feel like you’re in a period drama, minus the corset.
There’s also the RHS Garden Harlow Carr, a five-minute drive. It’s a botanical wonderland with flowers that look like they’re posing for a magazine. Perfect for a lazy afternoon stroll.
Feeling adventurous? Brimham Rocks is nearby. It’s a collection of weird, balanced boulders that look like a giant’s game of Jenga. Climb them, touch them, or just stare and wonder “how?”.
The Pub Factor
There’s a local pub, The Nelson Inn, within walking distance. It serves hearty pies and cold beer. The locals are friendly, and the fireplace is cozy in winter. Go. Order the steak and ale pie. You’ll thank me.

If you’re a cyclist, the area is laced with quiet lanes. Bring your bike. Or just borrow a child’s bike—I won’t tell. The hills will remind you that you have legs, though. Prepare for a workout.
