Morrisons doesn’t just close for New Year. They perform a ritualistic time-bending dance. On December 31st, most stores shut their doors by 6pm. Why? So their staff can actually enjoy the fireworks, not just sweep up dropped party poppers.
But here’s the kicker: some larger Morrisons stay open until 7pm. You can grab a last-minute bottle of bubbly at 6:58pm. Imagine the scene—you, sprinting through the aisles, clinging to a packet of sausages like a glorious hero.
January 1st is where things get deliciously weird. Most Morrisons open at 9am or 10am. But a handful—the brave, the bold—might unlock their doors by 8am. That’s for the people who woke up and thought, “I need a crumpet immediately.”
The Quirky Reality Check
Why is this fun? Because it’s a social experiment. You can predict a person’s entire personality by their Morrisons New Year visit. Do you go at 10am on Jan 1st? You’re an optimist, probably wearing pyjamas under your coat.
Do you go at 4pm on New Year’s Eve? You’re a last-minute miracle worker. You’re the one who buys 14 packets of crisps and a single carrot. We salute you.
Here’s a secret: Morrisons actually posts their specific opening times on their website about two weeks before New Year. It’s like a treasure map for the fridge-depleted. Print it out. Frame it. Or just screenshot it and forget immediately.
