Right, let’s cut to the chase. Yes, Asda is generally open on Easter Monday, but not like a normal Monday. Think of it as Asda’s “weekend lite” mode. Most stores will open later, around 8am or 9am, and shut up shop much earlier, often by 6pm or 7pm. It’s like the shop is saying, “I’ll help you out, but I’m also having a lie‑in.” You won’t be able to do your usual 10pm emergency snack run, so plan accordingly.
Here’s the kicker though: not all Asda stores are created equal. Some smaller Asda stores, or those in tricky locations like town centres or retail parks with different lease agreements, might be closed entirely. It’s a bit like the lottery of bank holiday luck. You might walk up to the doors, full of hope, only to find a taped‑up sign that reads, “Back to normal Tuesday.” And you’ll just stand there, holding an empty reusable bag, feeling personally rejected by a corporate giant.
How to avoid the pitfall (because we’ve all been there)
The secret sauce to avoiding this specific kind of heartbreak is checking the store locator online. Asda’s website has a handy “holiday hours” feature. Type in your postcode, and it’ll give you the gospel truth for your local branch. It’s the adult equivalent of checking if Santa is coming, except the gift is a bag of potatoes and some golden syrup. Trust me, doing this from the comfort of your sofa is far better than driving there, only to find a ghost town of empty car parks and a single seagull judging you.

Another pro tip? Call ahead. I know, I know, it’s 2026 and we hate phone calls. But it works. You’ll get a recorded message that usually says, “Our store hours may differ due to the holiday,” which is corporate speak for “we’re open but we’re grumpy about it.” Still, it’s better than the alternative: arriving at 4pm to find the shutters down and a lone staff member walking out with a mop, giving you a sympathetic shrug.
