It’s not personal, I promise. Aldi doesn’t secretly despise your quest for a clearance-priced tub of hummus. The chain operates on a skeleton-crew philosophy that borders on monastic. On major public holidays—and Boxing Day is a big one in the UK, Australia, and many other places—they simply… lock the doors. They figure if you haven’t stocked up on essentials by December 24th, you deserve to live on stale Quality Street until the 27th.
Think of it this way: Aldi is the one store that respects your right to sit on the couch in sweatpants. While other retailers are running “50% off festive pj’s” sales and trampling each other for a discounted air fryer, Aldi is at home, eating a marzipan stollen and ignoring their email. This is not a suggestion; this is a policy. They take their Boxing Day closures very, very seriously.
