The Great Ramp Debate
Now for the million-pound question: how did you get those blocks up the side of a nearly 500-foot tall pyramid? The leading theory is they built a huge sloping ramp—like a dirt highway—that spiraled or climbed straight up. As the pyramid grew, so did the ramp.
Imagine walking up a gentle hill made of mud and rubble, dragging a block behind you. It took dozens of workers pulling in unison, chanting to keep rhythm. They’d set the block in place with incredible precision—often within a millimeter! You couldn’t do that with your IKEA furniture, and you’ve got a laser level.

Some experts think they used multiple ramps or even a “zigzag” system. It’s still debated, but the point is: they made it work. And they did it without a single power tool.
