If you’re staying near Covent Garden or Soho, just walk. It’s a fifteen-minute stroll. You’ll weave through narrow streets, dodge street performers, and smell a dozen different cuisines. Pro tip: Follow the crowd of tourists carrying museum maps. They’re like little human GPS units with bad sunglasses.
Walking also lets you discover random pubs. You know, for research purposes. “Oh, I’ll just pop into The Museum Tavern for a pint. For hydration, obviously.” The museum will still be there. Probably.
The Tube Strike Scenario (Because It Always Happens)
Let’s say the Tube is on strike. It’s a Tuesday. It’s always a Tuesday. Your backup plan? A black cab is expensive but fast. Just wave your arm like you’re flagging down a friend across a crowded bar. They’ll stop.
Or use Uber. Or rent a Lime bike. But I don’t recommend cycling if you’re jet-lagged. You’ll end up in Camden, wondering why there’s a horse statue in front of a market. (It’s a long story. Don’t ask.)
