Esther has a few ghostly friends. There’s the Bellhop, a man who died in the elevator. And the Chef, who haunts the kitchen. But Esther is the star. She’s the reason you can’t sleep.
Some players argue she’s actually 9 or 10 based on a dress size. But the game’s files hint at “eight” in the script. I’m sticking with eight. It’s the sweet spot for spooky.
And if you dig deeper, you’ll find a lore note that says “she never grew up because she never wanted to leave her mother.” That’s sad. But also makes you root for her a little.
The final verdict
So, how old is Esther? Eight. Stop guessing. She’s a ghostly eight-year-old with a terrible past and a great pair of murderous lungs.
She’s the reason you check under the bed. She’s the reason you don’t trust dolls. And she proves that age is just a number—especially if you’re dead.
Next time you play Haunted Hotel, remember: you’re dealing with a second-grader who never grew up. Respect the pigtails. Fear the teddy bear. And for goodness’ sake, don’t leave your flashlight unattended.
