Staying for a whole week? Now we’re talking. A weekly Travelcard for Zones 1-6 costs about £74.50. That sounds like a lot until you realize it’s about £10.60 per day. Cheaper than a daily paper ticket and about the same as a contactless cap.
You can load a weekly Travelcard onto an Oyster card online or at a machine. It’s like giving your wallet a warm hug. And if you lose your Oyster? You can recover the balance. Try doing that with a paper ticket you dropped in a puddle.
But What About Kids? And Seniors?
Kids under 11 travel free on Tube and buses. Yes, free. As in zero pounds. They even get their own special little Oyster cards. Meanwhile, you’re paying full price. Such is the injustice of adulthood.
Seniors (60+) with a free Oyster card can travel for free on buses and trams. On the Tube, they get a discount. So if you see a granny zooming past you on the Northern line, don’t be jealous. Just know that one day, that’ll be you.
