Oh, you thought that was it? Nope. Disney owns two massive water parks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Each one is about 60 acres. That’s bigger than some actual towns. I’ve seen apartments smaller than a lazy river. You could literally lose a child for hours—don’t worry, they’ll find them at the wave pool—and still not cover the whole place.
Transportation: The Secret Fifth Park
Here’s where the size really hits you: the transport network. Disney World runs its own fleet of buses, monorails, boats, and even a sky gondola system (the Skyliner). The monorail alone has a track that’s 14.7 miles long. That’s longer than the entire island of Nauru. And you think your city’s bus system is bad?
Walking from the parking lot to the Magic Kingdom entrance is a 15-minute stroll. Then, from the entrance to the castle, another 10 minutes. By the time you reach Cinderella’s castle, you’ve basically walked a 5K. Don’t believe me? Google “average Disney World steps per day.” People average 10 to 15 miles per trip. Your sneakers are not ready.
