Their chemistry makes the stakes higher. If you die as Tommy, you just lose money. If Jason or Lucia dies? You lose a person. A partner. The game is forcing us to care on an emotional level. Sneaky, Rockstar. Very sneaky.
I also love that they feel humble. They aren’t millionaires. They aren’t super spies. They’re just regular criminals trying to pull off a big score. It’s a classic story, but told through the lens of a messy, modern romance.
So, who are they really? They’re a mirror. They reflect the player’s choices. Do you play as the ruthless mercenary or the loyal partner? The game will let you decide. But I think, deep down, Jason and Lucia are just two people who discovered that crime is more fun with company.
Now, can we please get a release date? I need to know if they get the mansion or just a jail cell. But until then, let’s just appreciate these two chaotic icons. They’re about to make Vice City very, very loud.
