Ever seen prosciutto? That's ham. Raw. But cured and sliced so thin it melts on your tongue.
Nobody cooks prosciutto. You wrap it around melon or eat it on pizza after baking.
Country ham? That salty, leathery southern classic. It’s cured and aged. You can eat it raw, but it’s aggressive. Most people soak and fry it.
The Leftover Lie
Leftover ham is a gift. You can eat it cold on sandwiches. You can fry it with eggs. You can cube it into mac and cheese.
But here’s the rule: if you originally cooked it, eat it within 3-4 days. If it was already fully cooked and never heated? It gets weirdly longer shelf life.
Fully cooked, unopened ham can sit in your fridge for two weeks. Don't test that, but it's true.
