The drive is a geography textbook come to life. You start in the skyscrapers of Manhattan.
Then you’re in the cornfields of Ohio. Then the flat, endless plains of South Dakota. You’ll see the Badlands—which look like a Martian landscape.
Just try to avoid hitting a buffalo in Wyoming. They don’t care about your rental car’s insurance.
The Food Odyssey
Your taste buds will go on a journey, too. Start with a New York bagel. That’s a proper, chewy bagel.
In Chicago, you’ll eat a deep-dish pizza. It’s more like a casserole you eat with a fork. Don’t argue with locals about it.
In South Dakota, you’ll try a “chislic” (fried meat chunks). Then in Seattle, you’ll finish with teriyaki and coffee so strong it grows hair on your chest.
