Blame history, or more specifically, blame the British Empire. They invented miles. Then they invented kilograms and meters. And then they changed their minds, but America was like, “Nah, we’re keeping the old stuff, thanks.”
So now, you’ve got the U.S., the U.K. (sort of), and a few other holdouts using miles for roads. Meanwhile, the entire rest of the planet is like, “Kilometers, people. It’s the 21st century.”

It’s the measurement equivalent of bringing a cassette tape to a Spotify party. But hey, I respect the commitment.
The Real Pain: Speed Limits
This is where things get dangerous. A sign says “60 mph.” In your head, you think, “That’s fine, I’ll go 60 km/h.” Wrong. That’s 96 km/h. You’re about to get a speeding ticket the size of a small island.
Or worse, you’re in Canada, and the sign says “100 km/h.” You’re American, so you think, “Whoa, that’s fast!” But it’s only 62 mph. You’re that slow driver everyone honks at. Don’t be that person.
Memorize this: 100 km/h is about 60 mph. 120 km/h is about 75 mph. Now you’re the hero of your own road trip.
