It turns out that lettuce is pretty delicate, and it can go bad in a few different ways. For one, it can get wilted and soggy if it's exposed to too much moisture or heat. It's like when you leave a in the bathroom for too long - it starts to get all musty and gross.
Another way lettuce can go bad is if it's contaminated with bacteria or mold. This can happen if you don't store it properly, or if you leave it out at room temperature for too long. It's like leaving a piece of fruit on the counter - eventually, it's going to start to rot and attract all sorts of unwanted critters.
So, how can you tell if your lettuce has gone bad? Well, for starters, you can give it a good sniff. If it smells off or sour, it's probably time to toss it. You can also check for slimy or soft spots - if it's got any of those, it's likely gone bad.
