Black drum are curious and stubborn. They’ll steal your bait and tug like a bulldog. They aren’t graceful swimmers—they blunder along the bottom, nosing into mud for crabs.
They also have weird teeth. Baby drum have little human-like incisors. It’s creepy and adorable. You’ll swear they started smiling at you.

And they grunt. When you lift them out of the water, they make a low, croaking noise. It’s like they’re complaining about the ride. “Put me back, you monster.”
