Check your phone. If you’re reading this at 7:00 p.m., there’s a 90% chance they’re already in the third inning and David Hamilton just struck out looking. Sigh. If it’s 10:00 a.m., you’ve got time. Go make some eggs. Enjoy the suspense.
And if they’re not playing? Take a deep breath. The world keeps spinning. You can watch a classic game replay, read a book, or — gasp — talk to another human being. The Red Sox will be back tomorrow, probably, unless they have a travel day. See? It’s a rollercoaster.
So, my friend, here’s your answer: Yes, the Red Sox are playing today — or they aren’t. But either way, you’ve got something to look forward to. Because baseball isn’t just a game; it’s a promise that tomorrow, there’s always another chance to hear the crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, and the sound of someone spitting sunflower seeds too loudly.
Now go live your life, check the schedule, and remember: a day without Red Sox baseball is just a day waiting for more Red Sox baseball. And that, my friend, is a pretty darn good way to wait.
Go Sox. 🧦
