So, let's take a step back and look at the roots of this beloved beverage. The word "latte" comes from the Italian phrase "caffelatte", which literally means "coffee and milk". And, fun fact, the first lattes were actually served hot, way back in the 17th century.
But, as the world became more adventurous, and the coffee culture evolved, we started to see the emergence of iced lattes. And, let me tell you, it was a game-changer. Suddenly, we could enjoy our favorite drink, even on the hottest of summer days.
Now, I know what you're thinking, "What about the temperature?" Well, my friend, a traditional hot latte is usually served between 140°F and 160°F, while an iced latte is, well, much colder. But, did you know that some baristas are now experimenting with temperatures as low as 40°F for their iced lattes?
