Every winner teaches us something tiny but true. Sam Thompson (2026) was pure joyful chaos. He tripped, he screamed, he laughed at himself. He reminded us that you don’t need to be perfect to win—you just need to be you.
The full list is like a recipe book of survival. Some win with grace (like Carol Thatcher in 2005), some with tears (like Scarlett Moffatt in 2016). But they all ate something gross and came out the other side. If they can do that, you can handle your Monday morning commute.
So, Where Do You Start?
If you want the official list, search online. You’ll find Tony Blackburn at number one and Sam Thompson at the end (so far). Each name is a little gold star in British TV history.
But more importantly: pick a winner who matches your vibe. Need a confidence boost? Channel Stacey Solomon. Had a rough week? Be a Shane Richie (2012) and just laugh it off. The list is a toolkit for life, honestly.
Next time you’re bingeing old episodes, remember: these people are just like us. They get hungry. They get scared. They sometimes cry over a cold shower. And yet, they become kings and queens for a season. If that’s not a reason to smile, I don’t know what is.
